It's time for an update....

I think when you sign up for the military part of the contract is that you are allowing them to tap your phone lines and put monitoring systems in your house to hear what you are saying because all we could talk about is how excited we were and what a great opportunity it would be to go to Germany and BAM an email response saying, basically, sorry but NO! Anyway I just have to trust that there is a reason for everything and that we are going to an amazing few years in HAWAII! I mean it's not a bad place to be stuck... It is no Ft Drum NY/ Ft Polk LA/ Ft Campbell KY so I better thank the big man upstairs for not sending us there. Someday I pray Robs military career takes us to Germany.... Add it to my bucket list!

Also I would just like to say how great it is to have so many amazing people out here and how strange it feels to know so many of us will be going in different directions over the next several months. It was amazing to get to know all of these awesome people. I obviously will post some sappy blog when my PCS time comes near but for now I will just leave it at this small paragraph.

I will give a special paragraph to my friend Robin Boleyn... She and her hubby, Jason, and daughter, Jasmine, will be PCSing in SIX short weeks to Ft Eustis VA and she will be missed. Over the past year or so I have gotten to know Robin and her daughter mostly during the guys deployment because she was an easy person to talk to and during my hair cut sessions, that I would swear I could only stay an hour for, I would end up staying closer to 2-3 hours. Thank you Robin for being so great. I can't wait to see what is ahead for you and Jason as you embark on the next leg of your Army life! You are an amazing person and will do great things!

Choices.......

Hawaii or Germany............

Both are amazing obviously for different reasons. Hawaii for its beautiful, sandy beaches and gorgeous waterfalls. Germany for the culture and history and the opportunity to explore Europe! We have been struggling with what to choose and lately it consumes my every thought!

I tell myself all the time to "pray about it" and I have been... believe me it is an all consuming thought/prayer. "What do we do God?" Sometimes I wish I had a telephone to Heaven because I would phone my good friend and ask Him to please tell me what is the best choice. But I don't have a phone so I have to trust that what my thoughts and feelings/gut are telling me is in some way what God is telling me.

The other night we sat at the kitchen table and wrote out pros and cons for each of our two choices... First let me rewind and say this, we have orders for Hawaii and have a report date of October 2014 BUT with Robs reenlistment next month he has been told he can request Germany. So no matter what we are leaving Savannah GA and yes that makes me a little misty eyed. Back to pros and cons...

HAWAII:
Pros: Its is closer to San Diego CA, which is where most of our family is so they would be able to fly for cheaper to come see us. The obvious, it is Hawaii... while we have heard some complaints about living on an island we think it is what you make it and we would try to go in with an open mind and make that decision for ourselves. My grandparents vacation to Hawaii every year so we would get to go visit them on their island. Travel, we would get to travel and hike and see some cool stuff, plus my photographer eye would LOVE the sights and the gorgeous picture perfect places.
Cons: Isolation of living on an island, there would only be so many beaches and waterfalls and volcanoes to see before we probably would get a little stir crazy seeing the same things so many times. Cost of living is so crazy in Hawaii... a gallon of milk is like $7 we hear. Our furr babies wouldn't be able to come... while my husband doesn't see this as a con I do! I have never not had animals and will miss my babies so much!

GERMANY:
Pros: Location, we just think it would be an amazing experience to live in another country and learn about the history and culture and language. Family, my Aunt and Uncle live pretty close so when they aren't busy working we could meet them somewhere and get a grand tour of something new. Travel, we would be able to go to Paris, Rome, Belgium, London, Spain... the list goes on and on and well you get the picture.
Cons: Flight cost for family to come visit would be very expensive. Time difference from CA... I am so used to talking to my parents everyday and would go through some serious withdraws not getting to just pick up the phone and call. Not getting to take the furr babes.

Ok so there it is our first brain storm blog... Sorry it is so long but like I said I am going to lay out ALL my thoughts for you to see because it might help someone somewhere... Good night loves!

Intro to ME!

Well where do I start... My name is Krystal, I am 26 years young and I am a very PROUD Army wife and Mommy!!! My husband is Rob [[29 years OLD]] and my precious baby girl is Emma [[19 months]]. We are from San Diego CA and currently live in Savannah GA. I am going to school for nursing and I have a passion for photography. So on the side I enjoy spending time snapping pictures of my baby and whatever else catches my eye. This is my first blog EVER and I have no idea what I am doing but it should be fun! :)

My goal with this blog is to share tips and fun facts of being a Military wife and mom. We have A LOT of very exciting things coming up and I can't wait to let our brainstorming unravel here for you all to see and enjoy. Things will get real and real feelings will be shared. Military life is NOT always a joy but it is worth all that we sacrifice.

A fun picture for you to enjoy! This is me and my perfect little family.
